Banned?

I noticed a post today by a user with banned under their name. I thought if you were banned you couldn’t post. What’s up with that?

A user will have at least one post (usually many more) before he/she gets banned.
Those posts stay but the members status will change to "Banned".
Banning folks is not one of our favorite things to do, but does happen from time to time.

In order to keep the database clean and threads readable, we leave the post in the thread even after the member has been banned.

Hope this answers your question.

Rich

Perhaps we should change the "banned" title to "Doesn't play well with others"

Failure to follow the site rules (usually, its a repeated failure).

Usually a Blatant disreguard for the rules.
"In your face" disreguard.

Takes a lot to be banned.

Yeah, I'd agree with phox. It takes a lot to be banned.

It has nothing to do with your views, and everything to do with respect for others.

My mother always says " you can tell a lot about the intellect of a person by the number of times they have to curse to make their point."

Personal attacks rather than keeping with the threads subject seem to be the main critreion for banning.

Spirited discussion (in a civil manner) is never frowned upon here. Thats why I stick around

Much to the mods chagrin at times methinks. Rick

Banning is a last resort around here..some guys try real hard to make it the first choice though The ones I have banned have been repeat offenders who just think they are exempt from the same rules as everyone else, or major attitude problems.

I always try to warn first and in many cases we will just put them on mute for 30 days so they can think about it and hopefully come to the conclusion that they have to be nice. Some times the less intelligent ones think that if they threaten and abuse in emails to us to get taken off "mute" status, that it will somehow help the situation

That just changes the 30 day mute to a permanent ban........... Pretty simple rules around here, and everybody is held accountable to the same rules. 99% of our members NEVER cause any problems, a few make a mistake and when we notify them of it, they simply say "OOP's" and move on. The ones who get banned are the ones who instead of saying "OOP's" try to fix the situation by acting like a Mules hind end.

We all make mistakes, we don't expect anyone to be perfect.. as long as people are respectful of each other there are no problems

I've been able to post about the George Foreman Grill and have not got banned.

Maybe I will ramp it up a bit and see what happens.

This would be good for the folks that are banned >>>>>>>

Scotty, You have got to move past the G.F. grill.

I saw a Cuisinart Grilled Sandwich machine this weekend and thought of you. ( I know, sick) You really need to move on...Or up as the case may be, 129.00 for that darn thing.

Sorry about the thread theft, it had to be said though...
