Lightbulb Alternate Search Feature

I can be quite impatient at times, when I think of something I want to find it and seeing that the admin disabled search used to be a little annoying. So I went over to yahoo (or google) and searched there through this site instead, best of both worlds. Just use the advance search feature, enter the keywords like normal, but just add dieseltruckresource.com to the search domain.

yep, i like it. I added the form on the forums page. I've been playing around with it and it actually works pretty darn well.

I always use the "new posts" button... gimme an alternative for that, and I'll be a happy camper!

I wouldn't classify it as beautiful but it works well.

That's alright there. Will the normal search function come back as traffic goes down? If not would it be possible to do a HTML anchor from the search button to the search blank at the bottom? Just trying to keep it a simple transition for users, otherwise some people may be WTH happened to the search button?!

the search will come back during low traffic times. when the new system is up, it won't be an issue.

Sounds great, you make changing phpBB look easy but those of us who have suffered through it know better than that.

Just proved myself wrong....

I've been looking into buying a forum package and I can't decide which one! phpbb is free, but I have to change the code to allow the search engines to spider it properly, and vbulletin is very expensive (to me) considering I don't know if I will make any money back.
I don't see what the real difference is though.

Why not just use the google domain search for the site? I normally use it when I can't search the site the normal way. I just type in something like "CB radio site:dieseltruckresource.com" when I want to find 2 letter phrases or when the site search is disabled.
