All Dodge site?

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Re:All Dodge site?
Hey, there ain't no perfect marriage - or any relationship. This site has some great members with fantastic expertise. All relationships take work or they fail. Have to give the owners, moderators etc credit for helping the members stick together on all subjects, controversial, technical etc etc. OK, all families somewhere alone the way quarrel. Big deal. Learn from it and get on with life. The only constant in life is change. This forum is changing. Some may resist the change. My first impulse when I saw the change was negative. Then I thought about it and could see that there are more positives than negatives. Once we get the ability to open in the brand we want then it is almost back to being a just Dodge forum for the diehards. If it is not your desire to stay here, then move. Personally I would not like to see you go because we could be losing valuable knowledge, expertise and more. But then again, if you leave, just think about how much you are throwing away. Specially if you are leaving is just because of some petty gripes. We are an obviously varied and assorted bunch of folks that have got together thru a common love. Trucks first, then brand and engine. So how about we quit taking pot shots at one another, learn from the differences, continue to poke good natured fun at one another and thru our diversities become stronger. We must agree to disagree agreeably. OK?

Re:All Dodge site?
In all seriousness, I really think fears about this site becoming over-run with Ford and GM owners is overblown!<br><br>Face it, this has been a traditional Dodge site - and has over 6000 Dodge-owning members - if YOU were a Ford or GM owner, would you come HERE for your Ford or GM related info - or go to a dedicated Ford or GM board ALREADY established and loaded with experienced members who could REALLY provide you with what you were looking for?<br><br>I realize this new format is only a week old, but so far, 95% of those posting in the Ford/GM sections are DODGE owners - remove their posts down there, and there would be a SERIOUS echo down in those other forums! <br><br>Will that change over time - sure, to a degree, but I seriously doubt either of the new groups will ever become a force to fear on this site - why would they, when they already have far better and established dedicated sites to join?<br><br>Much ado about nothing - other than the possible indifference to those of us already here...

Just another point to think about:
With all the tree-hugger's air quality concerns now turning toward attempts to portray our diesels as the "Big Bad Wolf" it might not be such a bad idea to try to get all of us on the same wave length, instead several separate groups campaigning against ridiculous 'Knee-Jerk" or "Feel Good" clean air legislation.
Ed
ps: That person you just "Smoked" at the last stop light is probably a registered voter too. :

Re:All Dodge site?
Lil Dog,
Thanks for the heads-up on those "Dodge only" sites. I didn't know they existed. Why the heck would I want to spend time and money to develope another "Dodge only" site with so much competiton already out there? Ain't gonna happen...that's a no-brainer!
Heck, if I'd known there were so many sites dedicated solely to Dodge, I never would have given it a second thought.
You didn't burst my bubble...you saved me from popping it myself. Thanks! ;D

I'll leave it at that. Feel free to PM Joel.

Re:All Dodge site?
Who's on first? What does it matter? The logo looks good. I almost feel responsible for starting this bickering over the logo. :'(<br>Anyway, personally, I think the logo is just fine as is. And by the way, the blue Chevy looks better than the Dodge and Ford both...just my opinion. I also believe Ford has always made a better truck than Dodge and GM, engines aside (as in the DTR survey). Diversity is a good thing!<br><br>Let's quit this bickering and get on with enjoying and utilizing this site for what it was meant to be.<br>Buzz

It's no skin off my back....I guess people think that it really bothers me that some people are upset. To the contrary. I'm not bothered by it at all..."<br>=====<br><br>HMMmmm - perhaps I'm being a bit over-sensitive, but the overall tone of that complete post is somewhat chilling to me as an active member and contributor here... [/quote]<br><br>Why? What you're not understanding is that I used to try and please everyone. Over time, I realized that it's impossible, so I don't let it get to me anymore when this kind of thing happens. As always, posts on forums can be misunderstood as to the tone of the post. Obviously, this is one of those posts. I'm not indifferent to the members of the site. I appreciate the contributions all of the members make, even the ones that I don't agree with.<br><br>
<br><br>Exactly Gary, and that's why we've chosen to go this route. As I said before, the responses have been more positive than negative, which so far is a good indicator that the majority of the members, with the exception of relatively few members are for this move.<br><br>
<br><br>I agree. You are an important part of our member base, and I would hate to lose you, but I'm not going to beg you to come back if you don't. As I said previously, there is no way we can please everyone. <br><br>
<br><br>If I made you feel that way, I apologize. That's not the case.<br><br><br><br>
<br><br>Of course I acknowledge that. I agree 100%. I think you're reading way too much into what I've said. I respect a good many members on this board, and always will. They're very helpful folks who want information, but are also willing to give it. <br><br>
<br><br>See above Gary. I of course respect your opinions, and I hope that everyone stays, but if they don't, I'm not going to chase them down like a sad puppy. We'll continue to grow and will be a great resource. If you choose not to participate, I can't help that, and I don't have the time to beg all of you to stay. Why would you expect me to?<br><br>
<br><br>So do I.<br><br>
<br><br>We do, and that's why we made this change. <br><br>
This - or any OTHER Internet board is no more important than it's USERS - without those members, like a newspaper without readers or news to print, they would DIE!
I freely admit the importance of THIS board as a meeting place to exchange information and experiences related to our trucks - and I consider myself - and those like me - to be a valuable resource to the continued SUCCESS of this board
- and reading stuff like the above sorta makes me suspect that OUR contributions - AND viewpoints are considered to be of little value or importance to this board.
Otherwise. it comes off as indifferent, arrogant and insensitive to the opinions, views and preferences of the MANY who all made contributions to enable this board to be what it is today - I'll absolutely flat-out guarantee you it wasn't purely the presence of the Administrator or moderators ALONE that made this board happen - it was the helpful participation of ALL the regular contributors that did that - and THEIR viewpoint IS of value, whether the upper management chooses to acknowledge that fact or NOT!
IF, at ANY time, Administrators or moderators figure MY presence and contributions here are of so little value, they REALLY don't care if I go or stay, they will have already made MY decision for me!
*I* value this board and the other members here, AS WELL AS their individual opinions on a wide array of subjects
- and I propose that the folks who run this board MIGHT just place a little more value upon the feelings and wishes of those who helped MAKE this board the success it is today as well...

You assume incorrectly, then you say that I'm indifferent to the members. Am I supposed to give you a positive response to this? <br><br>I basically see some of this stuff as a bunch of whining, like the Chevy being first on the logo. Give me a break. That's ridiculous, and if you think it was done on purpose, then you're wrong. Others have brought up things like the name of the chat room, with smart comments about how it needs to change. I take those as being non-helpful according to what I believe the tone of the post. Then again, I have already said that misunderstandings occur on boards like this, and I could be completely wrong.

Re:All Dodge site?
"Others have brought up things like the name of the chat room, with smart comments about how it needs to change."<br><br>Since I was at least one (perhaps the only one) who made that suggestion, it was hardly worded as "smart" or even critical - I had just come from the chat area, and noted that while there was a spot for Dodge and "time out" areas, I didn't see any for Ford or GM owners - and sorta figured than any of THOSE owners might feel more comfortable and welcome in a spot more tailored to them - or else perhaps have NO "brand sensitive" chatrooms at all and place everyone on an equal footing - it WASN'T posted - or worded - as a "smart comment" at all, as far as I can see...<br><br>OR. to put it into better perspective, if YOU can see something ulterior in THAT statement by ME, surely you can better understand MY discomfort over the tone of your post I referred to above...<br><br>BUT, you've said your piece - I've said mine - I'll leave what remains for the rest to comment on or ignore, as they see fit...
