I read somewhere you don't allow pop up ads on this site. Someone mentioned one and you removed it.

There is an annoying pop ad in the 1st gen section, pops up at the bottom of every page continually. If you don't allow them, thank you in advance for removing it.

Anecdotally, this place used to be very clean. Now, advertising gets in the way. Significant change for the worse. My 2 cents. I know, I can always do something else.

Post script; there are three links in this post alone. A bit much.

 

Next time you see that pop up ad, post the link so we can find out who it belongs to and get rid of it.

I know you don't like advertising but you don't seem to mind taking info from here for free?.......How do you expect to pay for that info? Like it or not, the ONLY reason this place is free for you is because somebody PAYS your way by advertising here because YOUR 2 cents doesn't pay squat

As Lary said, someone has to pay the bills. If you wanna fork over the money to do it, then I'm sure the all of the ads could go away. Don't forget to pay for all the lost revenue of the advertisers as well. Sorry man, but business is business and this site can't run for free. As my Mom used to say, money doesn't grow on trees. Is it killing you that much that you can't find the information you need? I would guess not but maybe I'm wrong.

 

Just a newbie outsiders buck-2-fiddy, but as a guy whose been on and around automotive websites for the better part of 2 decades, and has his own piddly little site as well, I don't find the advertising here all that annoying.

Most of the sites with any significant traffic, have ads out the wazoo, and don't care if you like it or not.

As for the cost to run the site, do you guys have a subscription rate?
I was going to look but since I'm here, I'll just ask.

I've been on several sites that offer subscription rates to the members.
Some have one, others have "levels."
In exchange for the subscription, the member gets certain benefits. Most all include the ability to either eliminate completely or minimize to a degree, the pop up's and ads.

A couple of the sites I've been on had minimal advertisers, and one had none, simply because they had enough subscribers to do the job.
Depending on the cost to run the site, and if there's a "profit" expected from the site, this may or may not be an option.

While I agree 100% with your comment regarding the money to run the site, I'd have to disagree with you here:

While it's true that the advertisers $$ helps run the site, it's of absolutely no concern to me if an advertiser makes money, and it's not the members responsibility to pay for a commercial vedors lost revenue.

Only the government can get away with that kind of thinking
