If you are asking... yeah, theres Linux based OS's,like Gentoo or Debian, Unix based OS's, like FreeBSD, OpenBSD, etc., and of course Mac OS X which is Unix Based, and Windows stuff... which is... <bleep>. .

Does anybody know of a DTR patch or gum? I'm on here mostly when I'm at work and never get anything done.

 

The old server used to be named Dodge, and then we had one named Cummins. This one was named Monster because it was so much more powerful than the servers it had replaced at the time. Right now, it's still running pretty well but with the additional jump in traffic we've seen this year, we're going to need to split up the functionality of the site. You're right though. It's running CENT OS right now and that is what we plan to stick with for now. As long as I am alive, we'll stay away from Windows.

 

Yeah I used Cent for a while on my server, it was OK, but I like to stay away from RPMs... I hate working with those. I've been running Debian for a few years now and have been really happy with it, not had one big problem. I use Gentoo on my main computer, but its still a little too cutting-edge for the server room yet, so Debian is what I run on stuff like the server and my firewall computer.
