Colt Python?

I just picked up a Colt Python with a 4 inch barrel in blue. Anybody know what it's worth?

I'm partial to rifles and auto pistols. Not so much wheel guns. I'm gonna go see if I can trade it for something nice at the gun show tomorrow.

Thanks

One of the smoothest actioned revolvers I have ever handled was a retired California Highway Patrolman's 6" Python. It shot like no other gun I've ever fired. Keep it for a few years and its value will go up. I have a 6" diamondback in .22 LR I got as a kid. I'll never sell it.

Keep it, like other's have said. They're the Cadillac of .357's

I have a 6" stainless Colt Anaconda .44 that I bought new back in '92-'93. I had a guy at work that knew more about it's worth than I did and he offered me $500 for it, sight unseen. I thought that was a good deal for me considering that's more than I paid for it new. Luckily I talked to a couple of other gun shop fellas that told me "do not sell it". From what I understand, the Anacondas from that timeframe are worth upwards of $1000, so I've been told. At any rate, I'll lkeep it and never, ever sell it.

if it was in a dumpster covered with blood or in the bottom of a river, i would probably get rid of it!

same goes for if the serial number is ground off!

i try to not "pick up" any guns unless i know where they have been "acquired" can be suspect too

Well, I just got back from the gun show in Joplin. I traded it for a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch BNIB. I've always wanted one although I might have liked the 7.62 x 39 version better but I already got an SKS. Now I can't decide if I want to go fire it or not because it's brand new. All the reviews say the Mini-14 is a superb rifle. I really liked the M-14 when I was in the Army.

If you do shoot the Mini, I hope it's more like the one I had back in the 80's than the one I had a few years ago.

The newer one was a stainless steel that wouldn't hit the inside of a barn from the inside!

Oh and for getting rid of the Python!
