What's the rarest option you guys think these trucks had available? I picked up a 1990 W250 yesterday. It's complete except its missing a swapped in NV4500 and the Advance Adapters bell. This thing is rusty and every body panel is beat up. The things that made it interesting to me was it still had the Non I/C motor, a 29 spline NP205, and both 3.54 ratio axles. When I arrived it had a dash mounted tach which I didn't notice in the pics as I wasn't looking since it was a 1990. The tach has its own harness and it goes out to the engine where it goes to a crank sensor. This has to be super rare since I have only ever seen one other non I/C tach available. I know Mopar Accessories had some rare items. Looking though my dealer parts book in the Accessories catalog I see a behind the seat rack, behind the seat gun rack, and even a spare tire carrier that mounted in the stock location but you didn't have to get down on your back to get the spare up and down. My dad has a 2wd from TX that has the behind the seat rack so I have seen that. I have to ask has anyone ever seen the behind the seat gun rack? And how rare would you say the 1989-91 Tach kit is today? I have only ever seen one other. There is a local guy who has a real 1992 W350 single wheel with a Mopar "blue" grille guard. Looking though my 92 Mopar accessories catalog there are several items I have never seen on a truck before. From a different spare tire holder that didn't require you to lay on your back, a lockable behind the seat gun safe, to even a the lower body side stainless steel trim that reads "Cummins Turbo Diesel" on it on the door pieces. I had seen that before but thought it was aftermarket and not Mopar. I even have a brand new in the Mopar box stainless steel kit for a reg cab dually but all my duallies are club cabs. So guys whats the absolute rarest known Mopar accessory that you have seen in person?

 

I have seen one truck with a Non-AC motor, believe it was a 90? And the only other option is the manual high idle set-up on the 89/90 trucks, retrofitted one for my crewcab. I have only ever come across a couple people on-line who have had the Non-IC tach set-up....one just recently over on CF forum who was looking for a replacement crank sensor. Turns out a CPS from a 90's Jeep Cherokee was the right unit.

Sounds like some cool accessories were available.

 

Well Cows put me on that list. I know have a 1992-93 spare tach and a 1989-91 spare tach kit. Not to mention both of my 1st gens and four out of my dads stable has a tach in them. I see these things selling for ridiculous prices it amazes me. I have bought all the tachs for myself and my dads trucks and I have never paid more than $250 for one. I paid $1,500 for the whole truck that it came in. The rears, motor, 29spline T-case, both manual drive shafts, the complete manual truck peddle assembly and I it was a deal I couldn't pass on. Oh and by the way it also has one of those throttle idle setup. I am not sure if its frozen tight or not. I also have one on the donor truck I pulled the motor from when I swapped my RC. It was frozen up though.

 

Soaking the cable assembly in used ATV for a few days, then hitting it with some heat might free up the cable? If not then more soaking and more heat until it frees up....that's what I would do.

Mopar accessory keyless entry

 

Here is one I have never seen. Its a Mopar accessory spare tire unit that you don't have to lay on your back to lower or install your spare tire. Anyone ever see this one?

 

Here is something I truly would love to have. A behind the seat gun safe. Could you imagine Dodge selling this today!!! The lib's would boycott Chrysler. Also in the bottom right is a special tall holder. My dad actually has one in one of his rigs.<br/>

 

Here is one that at first years ago I remember seeing and thought it was aftermarket. Then I got my catalog. I actually have a brand new in the box Mopar stainless kit with red writing but its for a reg cab dually and all our duallies are club cabs. If anyone has a club cab kit and needs a reg cab kit I will trade you<br/>

 

My '90 parts rig has that idle thing. I was wondering if it was stock. Manual trans only? For warm up?

 

My truck has it but I can't get it to work.

 

Those are some cool things that I never knew existed.

I like the crank down tire carrier and the gun safe. Hand throttle is nice too.

Per a conversation several years ago with Terry Elder (a/k/a, "Mysteryman"), Dodge once offered an option in which a Ramcharger fuel tank was installed where the spare tire normal rides (and a special rack was bolted in the bed to hold the spare tire.) The bed contained an extra fuel door to accommodate the second tank. Not sure if this option was still available as late as 1989...

 

My '90 has that High idle setup. It works, but it is not much of a difference...Mark
