Afternoon gents... anyone got real simple instructions on setting up dual 31 batteries?
I'm sure there are threads BUT ...
1) I'm looking for step one...step two... and why it's done this way
And
2) when I use the search feature I get threads from all generation trucks and threads where only one post may mention what I'm looking for... anyway to narrow the filters to 1st gen stuff only or threads that only deal with "the topic" I'm looking for
Just point me in the right direction and I'll go digging if necessary

I would first use 2 new batteries. Then just hook them up in parallel. + to + and - to -. Use the same size cable as the existing cable. You may be able to find some hardware on some websites to do the job. Unless you're trying to set one up as isolated like for use on an RV. Then you need an isolator but if you want them both for starting then just connect in parallel.
I like the military style terminals because you can attach the terminal to the battery post once and leave it there. If you need to remove the wires you can remove them from the terminal or add new ones very easily. And they're way beefier than stock. IMG 2517
Not really applicable unless you wanted to modify your truck but my CUCV (80s Chevy K30 Military) has big positive and negative buss bars on the passenger side firewall. All batteries are wired to it and then the ancillary items feed of the bars.
Hmmm, that makes another thing I want to strip off the truck and put on the dodge...
Fastback... I will eventually be cleaning up and clearing out the spaghetti mess of wiring from Chrysler and the previous owner... the + post on my current battery looks like Christmas tree and the inner drivers fender looks like a rats nest ...
The only thing stopping me right now is the cold weather and not knowing anything about the wiring... getting FSM for Christmas!!!
Do you have a picture for this "bus bar" setup that's on your chevy?
These are not my pics and not my truck as its raining here in so Cal and I'm not going outside in flip flops but here ya go.
The bus's bars can be seen behind the battery. They are the horizontal looking bars. They have plastic screw on covers to prevent arcing and I beleive there are at least 5 hot posts under each cover.
