No Steering--got Fluid!??!

So my power steering is out..groans when I turn the wheel either way, and the brakes are frozen too...

Why are the Power steering fluid, oil, brake fluid all normal levels?

is there a powersteering 101 thread?

Any chance this is a steering box problem instead of a pump problem?

I only drove about 10 feet when this started, I'm afraid to drive it or even turn the wheels..
Am I right that I could do a lot of damage? Sure would be nice if i could drive it into my garage...which is about 100feet away...

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
You are not going to hurt anything by driving 100 feet. On a whim!!! Try reving the engine to about 2000 RPM for 10-15 secs. I have seen the vanes in pump stick and need a little centrigugal force(reving) to get them back working. The noise you describe is a pump without prime. JMHO

Make sure you are moving before you move the wheel. Try this before you spend 100 bucks for a new pump.

Thank You!
I hope to dig into this this weekend.
I initially posted in the help section thread here:

So I'll keep that thread going. I'll post what I find, I'm sure I'll be asking more questions too
thanks
