Cummins motor pics, ready to install!

I got the motor cleaned, painted and polished, ready to install in Big Ed.

While the motor was on the stand I did the following,..

1, Killed the Dowl Pin
2, 3200 Govenor Spring
3, Smokey power pin
4, 60 LB Valve Springs
5, an obvous good cleaning!

It already has bigger injectors, and turbo housing on the intake, just not the exhaust side. I still want to make a heat shield for the turbo out of Diamond Plate aluminum, it is ready to cut but I don't have my saw here at the shop, hope to get that done tomorrow.

Amyway here are the pics,..

Looks good. Where did you get the rocker arm cover with the oil fill cap? Did you block off the old oil fill spot?
Thanks,

Thans Guys,

Nope, that is just the way the motor came. I do plan an intercooler install, I have one from a PSD that will need to get plumbed in.

Same awnser, that is just the way the motor came. It was a Cummins Reman with about 20K on it. I beleive it was a complete drop in motor. I did not have to do anything with it as far as the oil fill location.

Looks like a medium duty truck/bus application.

That is one beautiful motor. I had one like that once when I got it from Nascar Mark. But upon bolting everything together in the truck and then taking the truck for a ride in the middle of Feburary, motor didn't stay that clean for long. Even after multiple washings, never got as clean as the day it went in.

Looks great and well worth the effort. Now you can spot any leaks without a problem. But you won't have any.

Nice job and that engine is a true work of art. Definitely looks like a performance engine and I like how the turbo is mounted up higher then usual. Good luck with the install.

Now that you mention it, that makes sense, my son's girlfriend's family has a Cummins powered Blue Bird Scool bus converted int a motor home, it is where there turbo sits as well. I knew it was fimilar, it has been over a year since I have seen there motor.

Thanks! I figure this is the best the motor will ever look, it's all downhill from here,... so I took some pics. I in a year it will be just another greasey Diesel motor.

Thanks again or the comments guys, Tomorrow I hope to build the heat shield for the turbo,...

Bet there's some time invested in polishing those valve covers, looks real sharp. Also I noticed that the starter is on the other side indicating possible bus/medium truck engine.

The Motor was in a 1986 Ford F350 so the back of the motor has a C6 adapter, Not shure if that is why the starter is on that side of the motor but that is were it is on a Ford Diesel also. But you are probablly right,..

I got the turbo heat shield built and installed, Looks better than the tin foil that was on it,..

Did it come with the aluminum intake cover? I have never seen one like it before. Is it possible to find out what it came off of or who makes them if you didnt purchase it?
