Hey Hey .... Christmas came early to my house !!
As some may remember that I lost my buddy "Flash the Wonder Basset Hound" last year. Went out hunting and never came back ... very sad time for me.
And that our dirt road is constantly a dumping ground for peoples unwanted dogs.
Well wouldn't you know it ... but someone dropped off a very handsome Basset Hound and his lady companion (not sure what she is ... other than cute) and yesterday they were headed to our house when Mrs. Pistol & the kids discovered them !!
So tonight I get to welcome "Duke the NEW Wonder Basset" and "Neia the who-knows-what ?" to the Hurst family. Duke is pretty undernourished and will need some work but Neia seems to be in fair shape other than the typical throwing up that comes with abandoned domestics that haven't ate regular food for a while.
Kids or animals ... we adopt em all

Don't let CHAIKWA hear that....his phone rings off the hook so everyone else rests easy that he is not outside their driveway......looking lost.
don't let him fool ya..........
wow, I drink foo and have a mercedes; Fiver does foo and has a Porsche
Old Dog drinks Jack Pine kawfy and has the faithful ranger; and fronty just drinks....lost without his airplanes...heheheh j/k
beautiful morning, about 40 mph winds at the Lake. BUT, I was able to trap a hawk (mouse in wire screen cage with about a hundred fishing sliding knots all over it. toss it on a snowbank when hawks are nearby, drive away but watch the hawk. it swoops down and gets hooked, drive back, contain hawk, and cover it's eyes. it will settle down, allow you to release it)
held it underneath with talons free. it will just rest in your hand. gave it to hubby (looking very unsure when that close to beak and talons) after 30 seconds, he felt that cool feeling of bonding with nature. we cut off some plastic ring around his wing, gave him a good scratch with a tooth brush some mineral bird water with vitamins and all that... then a simple toss in the air for freedom. hubby is still in awe.
have to untangle the hair now......later DTR folks!

I'd post some pictures but to be honest ... it is too much of a pain to post on here. I tried to set up a photobucket ... guess I'm not smart enough to make that work ... and when I put pics on here, I usually forget them by the time they get approved
. I'll work on it ... got nothing else to do right now.
After all ... when you've seen one tri-colored basset, you've seen them all !! They are sooooo awesome !!
Plane's delayed here in Denver ... not a cloud in the sky and the plane is delayed. Sounds like a pilot recovering from too much "holiday cheer" to me
.
Cheers,
