Maybe toe in or other alignment problem.

I don't believe it's anything to do with the Toe in, is there any adjustments on the box? I can lock the steering all the way to the left or right and it will stay there until I pull the wheel back to the center. It’s really annoying going around corners or sharp curves in the road. And it can be a little scary going down the road having to make adjustments for the wind. You move the wheel a little to compensate and there is stays until you move it back.

not sure i fully understand the problem. but i will not let that stop me from offering my opinion.

i'd say ball joints or tie rod ends.

jack her up and see how much play you have on the ball joints.

i would say replace your steering box. my truck had some play in the steering from hitting a huge rock. after replacing front end i adjusted the steering box. it did the same thing your describing. it was a hassle to drive. replaced the box and much better.

I would start with a good alignment shop. Have it checked for bent or worn parts and then do an alignment check. My 07 does a little better after I had it aligned.

Caster. If the caster is off the wheel won't follow the pivot point.

Either not enough caster or to much friction. Most likely in ball joints.
