Hey guys it started about 4 days ago the truck when in drive dropped like 50 rpm just enough to make it chugg at idle i have taken of the mp-8, and put new air filter in. Heard a rumor that it might be the FCA how do you test the FCA? I heard u could disconnect wire while running and ur rail pressure would climb that means its good or if u take it off and shake it it will make a noise is this true? Also since i have a arson III kit was wondering if i could put the stock FCA back on because i still have it? thanks for any input or any other suggestions

From what I've heard, if you shake it and it rattles, then it's good. I don't think the FCA in the Arson kit is any different, so I'd try just swapping them out, see if that fixes it.

Mine went bad a short time ago but it stuck in somewhat of an open position. The truck ran like crap with a terribly "rich" situation. Incredible smoke, rough running and knocking when I tried to accelerate. I was concerned that an injector(s) had failed. I limped it about ten miles home and decided to try the FCA before I tore into injectors. I removed it, (the plug is a pain) and shook it and heard nothing. Called Cummins and they had one in stock. I had to shake it pretty hard to get it to rattle a little, but I could not duplicate the sound with the old one. Installed new one and it ran fine. I took the old one apart and cleaned and reassembled for a spare.

hey guys it was not fca it checked out fine also checked my fuel filter that is fine still chugging but now it went into limp mode i have no power at all and it throws a overboost code. My gauge read 30psi???? also when i cycle my key on and off etc check engine light flashes 9 times and is solid on 10th time...

 

Cycle the key on and then off 3 times ending with it on and see what codes pop up.

 

no codes pop up.. but the engine light flashes 9 times and is solid on tenth...also another symptom came up when i give it a little gas the engine pops almost sounds like engine knock but i know its not a engine knock it only does it twice the when u get moving doesn't do it at all...
