I have heard a lot of good things about Zoom clutches. I know a couple people who use them in their gassers and love them, but I have never heard anything about their diesel clutches. From the info on their website, it sounds like they will hold over 1000 ft/lbs of torque. The Napa in town here sells Zoom clutches, so I might be reporting back in a couple weeks with some more info.

I've never seen those clutches made by ZOOM, so I've just got some assumptions...no real facts.
I think that the problem with a Cummins will be that it does deliver brutal torque at very low rpm. A gasser will have it's max torque somewhere above 3k rpm, so this might be a problem with those clutches for the Cummins delivering insane torque at 1200 rpm already.

I sent them an e-mail last night and got a reply this morning. It sounds like I might be testing out their ceramic ZVT clutch in the near future Here what the clutch will hold by rpm--

RPM----Organic------Ceramic
1500----610tq-------1089tq
1600----618tq-------1103tq
1700----626tq-------1119tq
1800----636tq-------1135tq
1900----645tq-------1153tq
2000----656tq-------1171tq
2100----667tq-------1190tq
2200----678tq-------1211tq
2300----690tq-------1232tq
2400----702tq-------1254tq
2500----715tq-------1277tq
2600----729tq-------1302tq
2700----743tq-------1326tq
2800----757tq-------1352tq
2900----772tq-------1379tq
3000----788tq-------1407tq

From what I have been told, the pedal will feel just like stock. Their kit includes the clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, pilot bearing and an alignment tool. They also offer a kevlar pilot bushing. I don't know if that is a good thing or not I think that they knew I am in the market for a clutch, and just wanted to confuse me even more than I already am. Who to go with? Southbend, LUK, Haisley, Enterprise, Mitchell, Zoom, etc......

From what we have found out and tested the Zoom clutches are a good investment. Feels very smooth yet gives tremendous holding power as well. We are looking at bringing them in, but nothing is done yet. I will be glad to find out more if you guys need me too, and would appreciate it if you are interested in them to let me know and I will get them.

I just took delivery of my Zoom clutch today. I have a LUK in right now and am not impressed. It slips at around 2150 rpm in 6th. Hopefully the Zoom will be better. I'll let y'all know what I find out.

Sweet! Let us know how it goes. What mods do you have that you are slipping the luk, and how much did the ZOOM run you if you dont mind.

can you also tell me which LUK you have...the pro gold or the cerametallic?

im getting close to 500hp now and my LUk cerametallic has only slipped 3 times it was on a WOT 5-6 at the race track. not letting off the throttle and banging gears. i have not even felt the slightest bit of slip when just accelerating while in gear tho, and i will openly admit i abuse it more than most.

I watched a guy dyno IIRC 900lb-ft (Mustang) with a Zoom clutch.. His truck had a huge Zoom sticker on the side, I think he worked for the company. He was having everyone press the clutch to see the light effort.

Sorry it took so long to get back to y'all I'm new to this I have the Pro Gold in it now. The dealer did the install cause I was in the middle of closing on my new house. Needless to say I was hosed. When I got the truck back it was 2qt low on tranny fluid and 3 qt low in the trasfer case!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now they won't even back their workmanship! I'm putting the ZVT in when I get a free weekend. It was pricey, ($836.00 from Summit) and I want the job done right this time!

I can't believe that the luk is slipping with such little mods. Luk is the OEM clutch and I know the clutch in the NV5600 can withstand more than a hypertech programmer unless there's something your forgetting in your sig .

Thumbs down

No other mods. I truly believe it was the dealers fault. I'll almost bet when they reistalled the tranny they damaged the input shaft seal and it's leaking now.

I run the stage 2. smooth ,well grabby is what I call it . more on or off. the stage 1 has more of an oem (ford) type facing and is better for smoothness I am told. as far as holding the power 28000 miles and many of them towing the camper. no slippage with the boxes maxed out climbing gelico mountain. the weights are in max effect by 1600rpm so it low like the cummins torque. I can put you in touch with a guy from perfection clutch(zooms parent) for factual info. so far the lil lady like it better than my old stiff sbc. truck hooks just as well.

Olbetsy98_12v has (I think) their stage II in his truck and it is very grabby. It holds his power very well though and he seems to like it, you might want to ask him what his thoughts are on it...
