well lets just say its been a long road that im happy to be at the next fork to make a decision. i guess ill just act butt-hurt about it then.
Why intentionally destroy the tranny?
The better the shape it's in when you take the truck in, the cheaper it will be to get a performance trans.
Thrash the truck only AFTER you've done the due diligence of tranny reinforcement.
Debt free is nice. Until lately, all I owed on was mortgage and truck. Then we bought a minivan (planning for the future when we have more than one kiddo). House is for sale, so hopefully, we'll just have one vehicle and THAT'S IT for debt after the house sells (pay off truck when house sells).
Then again, it may make more sense not to pay off the truck and instead take the 10K or so and pay down the new van, since the remaining debt on the truck is mostly principle (dern the amortization!), and paying down the new debt would save a lot more $$ in interest....

What's the fun in letting a tranny live a normal life?? At least not for me. It's gonna cost the same with a junk one as a "used" one, so I might as well have some fun getting there
But that's just me...my diesel dummy buddies keep telling me I have no regard for my trucks. They're just jealous that I'm luckier than they were in the headgasket department
