Wretched MPG'S!
I just got done with a near 300 mile trip and calculated 14 mpgs, I knew I was getting bad gas mileage but this is just ridiculous! I recently posted about new gear ratio and smaller tires, is that whats killing my mpgs? I have 4:11's with 37"s and a custom front bumper that probably weighs a deuce.50 or so. Any tricks you guys know of? Special tuning with the pump? Am I shifting at the wrong time? Any help is appreciated guys thanks!
Ive been fighting a similar problem I also get 14mpg highway now, if Im lucky.
Ive tried tinkering with new injectors and timing. Seems like ever since I decked the head and added that extra .005 that small loss of compression is biting me in the butt.
Automatic, 4wd.. 4.10's.. all that will make economy worse. But when I first got this truck I was getting 17-18 mpg highway. So somethings gone off.
If I get the cash Im going with a ported head at the stock height, kill two birds with one stone.
Ive done all the usual stuff. Checked the trans to make sure it locks up. Make sure the fuel pressure is good, adj. the valve lash, etc. Nothing except raising the injector pop-off pressure did anything. Pop-off shortens the injection duration so thats a given I guess.
Id check your injectors and the other possible culprits
