Does anybody know where I can get a winter front for a 2001. Dealer said that DC is not making them for my truck any more.

Are you looking for a vinyl one or the black plastic "Cold Front" inserts made by Lund?

 

Ive got both the Lund "Cold Front" and the S.S. "Cloud Rider"

 

Would like to get the one that goes over the radiator.

I replaced the stick-on snaps with screw-in stainless ones to make sure they didn't come off. The summer screen helps keeps bugs off the radiator, and the winter front helps keep her warm while driving (idleing) in rush-hour traffic.

 

Does anyone make on that installs inside the engine compartment vs. outside?

I'm interested in one too but don't want it to get stolen.

I called the dealer and they sell a kit that includes a battery blanket with the radiator cover but it costs $180.00.

Way too much IMO.

Just slip a piece of cardboard between the Charge Air Cooler and the Radiator.

 

With the "cloudrider" brand you need to open the hood to take it off the truck - its cant be stolen without buggering it up.:

This works but unless you're in a very cold climate it's too much, no cooling for the A/C, auto tranny and intercooler equals trouble.

 

I've got the stainless Lund covers that have thumscrews to hold them on. Just in case somebody gets acquisitive, there's an acorn nut on the back of one thumbscrew on each panel.

 

I have the one from Cabela's, and it hasn't been stolen. I've had it on every winter since the truck was new. If someone steals that thing, they definitely need it more than I do.

 

I've been doing the cardboard thing for a while now and have had no problems. I did cut a 6" hole in the center. I heard it was a good idea to keep a certain amount of air flowing accross the fan clutch. I ran it this year clear into late may early june temps were around the mid seventies.

I bought directly from them "back when", but now it looks like they prefer you buy at one of their retailers.

Why is it that the Cloud-rider and Lund fronts look identical? Are they the same thing?

 

I have the Lund Cold Fronts and they do the job. They look nothing like the Cloud-Rider, but are only about 45 bucks.
