Will I need Head Studs?

Iam planning on getting them eventually but I was wondering if I could get away without them if Iam running a #0 plate, laser cut DV's,370's,and an 18.5cm turbo housing(just untill I get the cash or room on my credit card then I will go with an HX-40). So what do you think?

They couldnt hurt. Your smaller pump would like the timing advanced more. Doing this increases the risk of blowing the HG. So throw some studs in and call it good. They're probably not manditory if you keep your boost down below 40psi (which you should with a HX40). But then again a HX35 with a non wastegated housing will have some pretty high drive pressures, studs will help keep things intact.

Sorry to ramble, in short I'd get a set.

Well I guess studs are the first step, I really dont wanna spend almost $500 on something that isnt going to give me any performance, but I guess It could be way more expensive if I dont

Check DTT to see if they have their deal going on yet, they had them for $400, then call Summit and have them do their best price gaurantee and you get free shipping for $400 head studs. It'll save you some $$$ you can put towards your HX 40

In my opinion You won't need them with the 40 because it may show that it puts out 47psi on the gauge but it is not efficient in this range therefore it should be ok without them

But if you plan on going bigger than a 40 then i would definately put the studs in

Performance diesel warehouse has them for $395
