why's it shakin'?

I just had a lift installed in my truck that totalled 3 inches. I now have a front driveshaft vibration. The truck is a 2002, 2500 QCSB. I talked to Skyjacker and they said I should have no issues with a 3 inch lift. I took the shaft out and the vibe is gone. Anyone out there experience this problem. Thanks.

i don't have specific experience with your truck however i have had three lifted trucks in my travels. the last one being a ford p/u with 44" swampers, 12" suspension and 3" body lift.

your 3" lift is hardly anything to put any difference in that front driveshaft. only in extreme lifts is that front shaft problematic. usually you would have to turn the front axle(front rear)upwards to meet the radical pitch on the shaft.

not knowing all the specifics of your truck i would venture an educated guess that the front shaft should be balanced.

That is my thought also. Three inches shouldn't make a difference. And why should it need to be balanced, it was fine before

Did you remove the front driveline when you installed the lift? Sounds like maybe your U-joints are out of phase.

Could be a bad u-joint.

Yup.

Yours must be a late build 2002, without the Central Axle Disconnect, so your driveshaft is turning always.

No idea why only a 3 inch would have problems though.
My 4.5", you can see why it's vibing around, the angles are a bit extreme coming out of the transfer case.
According to Skyjacker, you don't need to reindex the transfer case till you lift 7".
I swear I got more than 5" of lift out of mine, like my springs are taller or something.

Have you had it in 4x4 yet, and if so, have you noticed a clicking while turning sharp?

Try this:

Mark where everything lines up.
Remove and reinstall wrong, and see if that helps.

If not, you might need to have it rebalanced.
Maybe you lost the balancing weight at the same time you got the lift, just a coincidence.
