Who makes the best and cheapest TC and VB tranny kit?

I was looking at TST products tranny kit to replace the torque converter and vavle body- NEARLY 2 thou? Is this the best price for the best product I can get? Should I just expect to spend two thou to do it right?

Since there's quite a bit involved in the automatic tranny with the target you are shooting for- more power transfer at lower RPM - it's a tad difficult to make the tranny behave right. The higher the RPM the more flow you have from the pump, and the more tolerant against leakage (internal) the tranny will be. Lower RPM and more torque means needing to make more apply pressure for hte clutches on less pump volume. It's getting trickier though, since a small leak will let more fluid through with higher pressures. I think that since you'll have the tranny on the bench it would be beneficial to do all the seals while you are at it. I got my stuff from DTT and replaced all the frictions and seals etc. More than 100 000 kms later the tranny still shifts perfectly. The small stuff wasn't really expensive, and the DC shop manual did help a bunch. My tranny had several internal leaks that I could trace in stock form. I believe that only TC and VB would have masked the problem for a while and then I'd have had to buy a whole lot of hardware.
If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself I think that getting a complete exchange performance tranny should be an option too. You'd get a new warranty on it.

Just pondering

Call Dave Goerend. He won't sell you anything you don't need, and he'll tell you exactly what you do need.

Do a search if you like, you'll be hard pressed to find a bad word said about him.
