What would be the best fuel pressure gauge to get?

Where can I get a fuel pressure gauge, and where should it be installed? I am not to crazy about the thought of a diesel line coming into my cab, and shaking free one day while driving, spraying me and my truck down with diesel. I need some ideas before I replace the lift pump.

I have the Autometer Ultralite gauges. The FP is mechanical with isolator.
You can see pics on my gauges installed, in a pillar pod, on my web site (see sig below).
I can't say that the Autometer is the BEST, but it has worked find for me for a couple of years now.
Other have install electrical FP gauges, and this sometimes causes a problem, I have heard, with the sender due to vibration in the fuel system. I understand this si sometimes fixed by putting a standard flexible grease gun hose in betwee the engine and the sending unit. That's about all I know about that situation. Someone else may be able to tell you better about the electrical gauges.

fuel pressure gauge

Been using Isspro mechanical 2 yrs no leaks no problems.

If you install a needle valve at the head of the line, which you should, and run it almost all the way closed with a mechanical gauge any unlikely leak will only amount to a very slow drip.
Electrical fp senders fail, why have a gauge that fails more than the system you're trying to monitor?

SPA Technique

completely adjustable, can be calibrated, will flash a light at a setting you choose. I've used them the past 4 years - no problems.

Wow Kurt, those are some groovy gauges. Do they offer any tell tale switches?
I suppose they are all electrical?

Hey Happy in Waycross,

I appreciate your concerns about diesel leaking into your cab--I had those as well.

However, the idea that you'd get a sudden massive rupture is less than likely. If a leak were to develop, it would more than likely occur over time and you'd detect an obvious odor early on. This, combined with the thoughtful install of a needle valve in the engine bay, would make the possibility of an in-cab "disaster" a remote one indeed.

In fact, during my a-pillar ISSPRO EV triple gauge install, I had to shut off the fuel supply and disconnect my gauge several times. During this process, the amount of fuel introduced into the pod, and therefore into the cab, was nearly nil. In short, if you're careful with the design, AND you use high quality components, you should be pretty safe.

My personal feeling is that this issue is not as serious as it may seem.

SPA makes some very cool gauges.
Kinda pricey for my budget, but they have some neat features not found on the other manufacturers' product.

Isspro Mechanical mounted on the dash.
(Needle Valve, Stainless Braided line, No Isolator, ..no leaks in 3+ years)

i have a dakota digital. it is electronic so there is no fuel piped to the cab. i've had it for about a year and it works great. it showed my lift pump steadly loosing pressure until it got to 5 lbs at wot and then i changed my pump.
