What to expect from the stoopid pump?
Tomorrow I'm cranking up my truck for the first time in 8 months or so. Twins, o-ring head, stoopid pump etc... I was wondering I could expect with the smoke? I haven't put the valet switch on yet because I've been kind of anxious to start this thing... but I'm thinking I might need to because I fear that with out the switch that this stoopid pump is going to turn day into night just idling or something. Either that or a solid coloum of unburnt fuel pouring from the stacks. I was also wondering if with that much fuel how long it takes the truck to even warm up idling? If ever :P
I've seen one truck pull a sled with the stoopid pump in it and holy cow
He had a turbo similar to a 40 on there at a truck pull and pulling along at 4500 RPMS you literally couldn't see for about 2 minutes after he ran. The smoke just kept coming! but when he let out of the go pedal the smoke stopped. I've got a feeling that you are going to have some fun tomorrow!!! Congratulations! All that work is going to pay off!

Your pump is only going to use as much fuel as the pedal and load tell it to. As long as you did everything right it won't run away on you. Most diesels won't warm up just idling anyway, yours won't be any different.
