what to expect with a new turbo?

I am considering a sps62 for my truck ( all info in signature) What can I expect as far as everyday driving?

Now I drive my truck mostly with the edge set on two. It smokes a bit on most takeoffs seems worse actually on moderate accel. I drive in metro area traffic mostly and it is a daily driver for me. Right now I have not much off the line but the turbo comes on like gangbusters at around 2k. It does not smoke at all on two when I really hammer except before the turbo spools up. I do not max my egt's unloaded on that setting although I can pretty easily when towing. I tow with it on two also and I can cruise at around 70mph in 5-th with egt's around 800-1000 depending on the hill and can max out egt's pretty quickly on accel or pushing it too hard up hills.

How will a sps62 change the way my truck drives normally and loaded? Will I be able to run at a higher edge setting? How about towing? Will it smoke less around town? How about towing? Will I have a noticable increase in power or is it only an egt reduction? Will it spool up even later when I am acceling unloaded? I tow a boat that weighs about 15,000 max on the trailer and usually less than that.

I really like the power I have but want to decrease the smoke all the way around. I know some of you feel the more smoke the better, and I admit it can be cool to fill a rice burner up with thick black smoke especially when their stereo is annoying, but they are really cracking down around here on gross polluting vehicles, using roadside emmissions testers and diesels will be included soon I think. I would love to have all the power I have now with less smoke, more subtle would be cool so no one suspects I can run that hard or fast!

towing you are going to love that turbo. you can tow on higher settings, egt will be greatly reduced, top end pulling power will be much greater than with the stock turbo, just watch the clutch. higher setting, while towing, in 5th or 6th, will at some point kill the clutch.

around town empty truck, she will be a bit(teensy weensy) laggier than the stock unit, but is more than made up for when the boost gets going.

I think thats gonna be a sweet setup especially for towing, the only thing to be cautious is your clutch but other than that, it should be a nice daily driver and tow rig.

I fully expect to replace the clutch at some point, be it sooner or later, I just figure I will use my stock one untill it goes, its holding ok now. But I have budgeted for a clutch.

you'll probably have to change your driving habits up slightly... you'll find yourself winding out each gear a little higher probably... the sps is going to sign on a little later than the stocker
