what color to paint rebuilt engine?

i am thinking going with the engine block cummins beige and the valve covers, oil pan, inj. pump black. what do ya'll think looks good on the engine? it is going in a white truck. i don't really want to paint it bright red or anything like that. what colors have ya'll seen on a cummins and what looked the best to ya'll?

I'm partial to blue, red, or orange.

I know its Ford that paints their engines blue but I have always loved the look of a Blue engine on any colour car. That or mabye orange. Most of the Chassis Is Black already, so I think that painting the engine is a little much black. If you painted the Chassis Black though, and had mabye skyjacker red springs, and silver shocks or something to break up the black, then you could paint the engine black, with chrome Valve Covers. Its all up to the person painting I guess.

i don't really want to polish the valve covers, but i can. it would look good to get the covers and injector lines chromed then paint the motor blue. with red injectors..lol
big blue, i signed the petition about front lisence plates, i have 2,000 dallars worth of tickets due to no front plate.

Go with something different and splashy. Like you said, maybe a metal flake blue with Red injectors and lines or soething like that would be pretty neat.

After seeing that picture buckshot, I likes the red.
How about painting the engine that red, the tranny too, then with some black and chrome mixed in too.
Anyways, whatever you do, let us know how it works out.

WOW That red is nice! It almost makes me want to rip my motor out and paint it up that pretty I'd hate to spill a bit of oil down the front for the first time, though!

If it were me I wouldn't go black it is hard to see leaks, also when it is dark the black absorbs all the light where a bright clouor would help working on the engine. When I did my 4.0L jeep engine it was stock black but I painted it chrysler blue and it made a HUGE difference working on it in lowlight, I would go the beige or even maybe the colour of the truck

i DO like that red...orange is reserved for big blocks...u dont wanna "copy" them cause it would be umm kinda like bowing before them.. the cummins is in a league of its own so u gotta be true to what u have.....the dark red is very nice very nice.....u dont wanna go blue cause thats our direct competition(ford) and its also the detroit diesel colour....black is boring...grey is too......go with the darn RED dark red it looks mint
