Want to drop your EGT's 100°F AND pickup HP???
Well I now have a stacked setup (TST PM3 stacked with Edge EZ) and was delighted with the performance but really excited about an un-expected bonus.... I always leave the TST PM3 on 9 and, normally, on this long hill I frequent on the turnpike, I like to let the Cummins music blast, the whole way up it. Usually about 3/4 of the way up and about 95 MPH I hit 1,350°F and the TST starts to de-fuel. Boost is about 34 Psi at this point. So I got my Edge EZ installed along with the TST, taking care to plug the TST into the MAP and the Edge into the TST and much to my delight, as planned.... GOBS more low end torque and response, WAY less turbo lag, and lots more smoke. All good and all expected. So on the way to work this AM, on my aforementioned turnpike hill, smash the pedal to the floor and off to the race to 1,350°F, which I figure would now happen sooner... WRONG!!! Boost is the same 34 Psi, but now I am more than 3/4 of the way up the hill, and coming up on 105 MPH, starting to defuel because of 3,300 RPM and the EGT..... 1,240 to 1,260 !!!!! WAY cool. I can theorize this benefit from the advanced timing which would a.) start the burn earlier and build more peak pressure b.) because of a., allow extracting more useful energy from the burn due to the increased MEP, and c.) subsequently cutting off the injection earlier in the cycle.
Anybody else notice similar results or add/detract from the theory??
