I ordered an Edge Comp along with a BD pump Cover to make a better connection, (everyone seemed to recomend this) anyways, i was reading some installation instruction for the new pump cover and aparently the old cover has what they call on the 2001-2002 models a "#25 TORX PLUS TAMPERPROOF" screw. Is there a special tool that i need to remove these, I know that BlueChip Diesel Performance sells special toos and if i need one, i want pick one up. Or can these be removed with another tool, Thanks for the Help

 

The kit should come with the tool, mine did.

 

Some pumps have tamper proof screws and some don't. My pump didn't have the tamper proof torx. If the screws have a pin in the center of the torx tip provision, they are tamper proof and you will need the special bit. If the screws look like a normal torx, you can just use a normal torx and you will be good to go.

 

I was looking at some of the screws in a VP44 awhile ago, and they look like a tamperproof torx, but they aren't. Only 5 points instead of 6. Couldn't get anything to match it.

 

Very interesting. I never looked at the number of points. I did notice that the bit that Blue Chip sent me the tips on the torx are flattened instead of pointed and has 6 sides.
