I'd think you'd get atleast a partial refund. My pump ate itself, and I still got a 50% refund on mine. If they won't give you your core charge back, get them to send you the old one back. You might be able to find another place to take it as a core, or, as I'd probably do, take the thing apart, see how it works, then throw it away.

Would be interesting if they wont give you your core deposit and keep your core too.

Most of the time they will only give you full core price if the rotor will spin freely. (IE, only the PSG board failed, or the diaphram is cracked)

If the pump "ate itself" they will not be able to resuse it.

Its kind of like turning in a engine block with a hole in the side. They will not be able to "rebuild" it so no core refund...

That's what I'm thinking.

A core is a core.

What place rejected ya or cant ya say. I sent mine into blue chip and you could only turn the shaft about a 1/4 revolution and it would bind up. They didnt ask no ???s and gave full core.

I'd hate to have a core rejected by blue chip. $1400 is a lot of cash.

Torqueman, how much did you pay for the VP pump? I bought a VP from a shop in Edmonton for $1495cdn and the core was $600. The pump was on the shelf just waiting for me. The VP pump that came out came from PDR. I think that PDR charges $1800cdn and its a $800 core charge. It made good power just was a bit flakey and jerky. The new pump works like my truck did when it was brand new. There are shops on the internet sale them for $1043 usd plus a core charge. You’re going to pull the pump yourself or get a shop to do it? It’s an easy 3hr job. The biggest thing is getting the keyway into the injection pump gear properly. The injector lines come out in two groups. Other than that, its a piece of cake.

Hey Mike,This already is my second pump. The one that's on the truck now still runs but getting hard starts and it's a 027 spec from Piers a couple of years ago.Ya I changed that one piece of cake,I do all my own work. What's going on is when I bought my first pump you didn't have to give a core then.So I sent that pump away for core towards a HRVP44 and it got rejected. So I haven't even bought a pump yet which sucks.Mike Harry quoted me 1550. and 500 core already but I'd really like to try Hotrod. If the hr doesn't workout Pier's here I come. Thanks Mark.......

I'm on my fourth pump. They start to get weak and the power drops off. I can't live with a wimpy truck. The shop out of Edmonton is Triple Eight Diesel parts. You can't go wrong with PDR, they have treated me good over the years.
