Both these van Aaken SmartBoxes™ increase power by 60hp and torque by 159lbs ft at 2000rpm.

I think the Van Aaken V5 is the best towing module
available. Power seems to come on stronger and at
a lower rpm than the others. It also seems to have
a milder timing advance ,so you don't get the timing
hammer "engine rattle " that you seem to hear about
with other modules. It works great with RV275 injectors.
Seems to be the best towing combination out , according
to alot of people in here.

I've got one, I like it. Got it for towing, on most folk's advice from this site. The v5 really woke my truck up, and helped quite a bit with towing a 10,000 lb trailer. It ate my stock tranny, or helped the cummins eat it, and I put in a DTT and some 1.6's, and the difference is night and day. I think it could pull the bottom out of a ditch now, it doesn't use half as much effort to pull that trailer around. Just plug the v5 in and forget about it, no adjusting or messing with it. For speed or racing, you might want something else, although it is a big improvement over stock.

I have to agree with Timberman, A Va and 1.6's are the way to go. Oh I don't have the 1.6's yet! But it won't be long!

well I still have a stock clutch so im not really wantign to throw some sticks in just yet....I was looking for somethign that performed like the Edge Drag Comp....Adjustable and I can have a lot of power and smoke on demand but I can turn it down whenever I want.....Im still thinkin though...

The Van Aaken by itself won't hurt your clutch. My stock
clutch started slipping when I added the RV275 injectors.
I do know that an Edge Comp will destroy a stock clutch
if used to it's full potential

Well, I do have to say that I was not at all kind to the stock tranny, I hammered on it all the time. Now I hammer on the DTT all the time. It is kinda nice not to adjust anything with the v5, all the power is there if you want it, or you can just drive it easy. The mach 1.6's are very clean, I only get a puff of black before the turbo spools, or if I mash it suddenly, there's a puff. You wouldn't have to worry about too much smoke with that combo, not sure how another box would affect it though.
