a valet switch can be made many different ways, basically it cuts off boost to the afc, i takes the fuel plate out of the fueling process, for better mileage or less smoke or to cool egts, i made one from an air solenoid that i bought at napa and its hooked to a switch in the cab, a boost line comes from the intake to the soleniod then out the other end of the solenoid to the afc, and bingo a valet switch.

The valet switch cuts air to the AFC (boost). The AFC is designed to travel forward once it see's boost and add additional fuel, the valet stops it from fueling after it see's boost (ie. lower power)

How much of a difference will it make, because if it is a huge difference I have an idea. Lets just say it will be like putting a TST on a 12v.

I just made my own with a little copper tubing and a small 1/4 inch ball valve and it works nicley! I have more power than I had when it was stock and If I want more it's a matter of flicking the ball valve under thew dash!

Thanks Vss

A valet switch is not a performance enhancing mod. It's a performance decreasing mod. It's designed to have on your truck for improved mileage, lower EGT's, and in some cases improved driveability.

I never loan my truck out, or let ANYONE drive it, so i have no need for it for that reason, i merely want to improve mileage.

I know, but if you always run it on valet then turn it back to normal, it will be performance increasing.

It also won't help your mileage...the only way to do that is to keep your foot out of the pedal.

It will help you drive more "smoke-free" which in some people's case's, will help mileage!
