Uprgrade question- box

I just got a truck and am new to diesels... I have a 3/4, 2000 5spd and was looking to upgrade and was wondering what the best box was to put in it, and other upgrades to build power and boost without spending a fortune...thanks, Awall

lots and lots of options. what are you lookin for? pure horespower? are you going to be towing? i think that the edge comp is the best all around box. if you ever want more then you can have it upgraged to the DRAG version. plus you will like the in cab ajustibility.

yes its safe to disengage. best bet would be to put on a manual boost controller. well as far as boxes and power, the edge DRAG comp and the TST comp are the 2 highest horsepower boxes that you can get for incab adjustibility and everyday street driving. for ULTIMATE power, blue chips FMS box or there REDLINE box are by far the highest horsepower boxes you can get but they are around the 1000$ range.

ok thanks i had heard taht disengaging it would blow head gaskets or something like that... Ok i was thinking about the comp and that jus reassured me bc i dont need top o the line power... basically every day driving for a while... are there any other cheap mods i can do to build boost?

you wont really gain any horsepower by building boost right now. you will need more fuel plus boost to gain horsepower. boost is not what gives you power,,,,, its all in the fuel. i would definetly go with the comp. as far as headgaskets go, you are safe up to around 50psi. after that you will need head studs and such.

not to get too confusing, but if you want to spend a little more $$ you could get a smarty (approx. 60 hp) and a tst pm3 (120 hp). as opposed to the comp (120 hp)

however the smarty is not mainly for "horsepower". It drastlically improves the drivability of the truck. Much more low in power and response. The smarty/tst stack is supposed to be one of the better stacks out there. Then get some injectors and a new turbo and your looking at a 400-525 hp truck (depending on what injectors you get) That being towable HP if you have the right turbo.

yes it is a good stack but there are a few people on here that have tried both combos. TST/smarty and DRAG/smarty and they are seeing the same if not mabey 5to 10 more hps with the DRAG/smarty stack. i have tried and tried to find more on this but cant seem to.

Exclamation

Alrighty fellas hold your horses, before you run out and get a box you need to get GUAGES, especially the Fuel pressure guage. Then bombs away.
