Upgraded Axle U-bolts

I remember seeing a site that had a 3/4" u-bolt kit somwhere...anyone know what it is??

I'm having trouble with the u-bolts on the 95 coming loose. Have backed off twice in a month. I replaced them about 2 years ago when I lifted it, and used 5/8" bolts instead of the 9/16" it came factory with!

Any suggestions on what I should try, or where to fing those heavier bolts!
Thanks All,
Chris

Maybe lock tight? I got mine from a leaf spring builder in Houston that does all of houston's fire, ambulance, police, and trash trucks. Not quite sure on the size but he gave me these nuts that are almost an inch long it seems like and even after a year they are still at 150 ft-lbs of torque.

I've tightened mine twince now with a 3/4" ratchet, and 6' of pipe I really don't want to put the 1" impact gun on them!

I have thought about lock-tite too, I'll probably do that when I change them out.

I can't really tell if there backing off, or stretching?? They don't act like the nuts are backing off when I tighten them back up! Maybe the combination of heavy loads, DD clutch, torque, and "Cowboy" drivers are stretching them??

Thanks Again,
Chris

Not quite sure but I have a feeling that if some off roading flexing and heavy/fast cornering and 400+hp ain't loosened mine up then something's wrong. I'll get some measurements tomorrow for ya.

While you are at it, not sure if you do any offroading but I got these from the dodge dealer ship, part number 52106916AB. 31 bucks each. they fit perfect on 3 inch wide springs, they have the U bolts also for like 12 bucks each but I decided to have custom ones made.

pics of them mounted with U bolts flipped:

Are you torquing the nuts to spec? If your just using a 3/4" ratchet maybe thet are not being tightened enough?

What's the spec?? We use the same 3/4" ratchet an 6' of pipe to apply 650ft lb to mianshaft nuts on combines...is that enough??

put a line of paint on the nut and threads on the u bolt so you can see if the nuts actually are backing off. If they are I'd double nut them, or use loctite.

How would I know what the spec is? I'm just asking a question.

I'd think 650 ft-lbs. on a 5/8" thread is a bit excessive, and is stretching them. If they are infact coming loose, and you have some thread above the nuts, get some jam nuts and tighten them up. They'll keep it from loosening, and is easier to remove than loctite.
