Which upgrade next?

So I recently bought an Edge Juice w/ Attitude to replace my Edge EZ. Have not installed it yet but I have a little mad money & am wondering what to invest in next. The truck is mainly a DD but i have a 3,000# camper that I haul around a few times yearly. Have been seeing 1,300 EGT's when going over mountain passes. Looking for better towing power, lower EGT's & fuel economy. Suggestions? I don't know if I have upgraded injectors. The PO installed all the engine mods but the Air Dog.

What kind of exhaust are you running? With edge you need better fuel supply, what are you running for fuel pump, if its still stock lift pump you need Air Dog, Raptor, etc.

You should install a 55 block next. Sorry I couldn't help it.
Since you do t tow I think I would do a set of 75-100hp injectors then a turbo.

You really know how to hurt a guy!

I have a ton of questions. This is my first diesel project, so I'm learning as I go.

Any particular brand of injectors for my application? Perhaps more important, any brands to stay away from?

To help with EGT's, I would like a turbo that spools faster than stock. What size / configuration do you recommend? I've read good things about BD Super B and Aurora 3000. Are they the correct configuration/size?

Would a Steed Speed exhaust manifold be a good choice? I read they lower EGT's and add about 10 percent horsepower.

The Super B and Aurora 3k are both the same turbo, an S300g. Bigger than stock, which will spool (slightly) slower than stock. Thats the trade off. More power, but slower to light. Only real cure for that is twins.

Without pulling the injectors, is there any way to tell if the PO upgraded them? I bought the truck from a dealership. It was all I could do to get the limited history I received.

I haven't pulled injectors before. Is it complicated or require special tools? Once out, are there identifying marks to look for?

I have a fellow cumninshaulic buddy that just bought an 01 6 speed. He added the bully dog and had high egt's. He put 4-5" exhaust with muffler and methanol injection. The injection is progressive and you can set it to spray at what ever boost psi you want. He can now pull his skid steer in 6th gear up hill under 1100 egt's. I'm impressed.
You have to use anti freeze windshield washer fluid or "heet" and cut it down with distilled water. Nice set up.

I believe the whole set up is under $500.00 but if your towing is well worth it. It really cools things down safely.

IMO, if you are not looking for alot of HP, but just better MPG and EGT control a couple things on your edge not sure what settings or side settings you are using you didn't say what settings you are using while towing. there are settings to stay away from when towing and settings that can help with egts as well. what gear are you locked in while towing and seeing these high EGT's.
Besides that I think a nice phat shaft turbo (many options) and small set of injectors. 50hp-75 tops would be great for you. with atleast this and a safe setting on the edge you shouldn't be pushing a head gasket issue.
