u joints

Ihave a question about what kind of u joints to use in my 2001 cummins quad cab 4x4. What do you suggest a guy uses. Greaseable u joints or none greasable.

I got one from Hi-Lo and it was greaseable. They relly don't need to be greased that often. I check mine every other oil change. I was going to get a heavy duty one but got to thinking that that was the weakest link. If I upgraded there what was the next weakest link going to be (ie: Clutch, ring gear). I'd rather just spend $15 on a U-joint. Hope this helps.

I just replaced all mine with greasables from NAPA. Had to replace a bad Carrier Bearing so I did it as Preventative mx... while Drive Shaft was out. (over 100,000 miles).

They appear to be nice quality and reasonably priced (shop price, don't know retail). Have heard good results with NAPA u joints. Time will tell.
They are not zerk fittings but funnel shaped which take a "needle nosed 4" grease gun adaptor. Much easier to grease... requiring no playing with drive shaft rotation to get to!

I'd do the same again.
