Well I am in need of a vp I know that i got the code. So my question is would that be causing my very slow spooling situation. It seems to dump a ton more smoke that before when you get on it from a stop. Also it will only make about 34lbs. It is almost starting to sound like a boost leak at high pressure to me on top of my other problems but I still dont know why its spooling so slow on the bottom. Thanks for the help

 

If you're getting tons of smoke, then the fuel is arriving-- so that rules out the pump as the cause of lag.

I'd look at other things:
1) Passenger side intercooler boot rubbed through
2) Exhaust manifold leaks (loose bolt, missing gasket, etc)
3) Cracks in exhaust manifold or turbine housing
4) Leaks in intake horn gasket (near engine inlet above VP)
5) Fatigue crack in intercooler
6) Valve adjustment or damage

Sorry, but there's really a lot of things that can cause your problem, and we haven't much to go on, based on your description.

Start with the cheap and easy and go from there, imo.

I went to home depot and made a tool to fit in the turbo inlet with a fitting for a air hose. Then I put compressed air in the intake and looked for my leak. Genos sells a tool to do this, but I built my own. Soapy water works good to find your leak, mine was where the plate bolts to the cyl head.

 

I was just looking at it and no cracks in exhaust manifold, the turbo is only 2 months old, The bottom pass. boot looks worn and I pulled it off and there is some serious wear on the inside. I will adjust the valves in the AM. Where on the intercooler are they prone to crack or is it a crap shoot. I just didnt know if the pump might not be advancing correct or something like that. I am thinking it is surely a leak because I can drive it the same at different times and the boost pressures will be extremely different. Also you can hear the turbo spooling but I cant really hear a leak because the thing is so loud.

 

Depends on the smoke. If its black then the pumps probably good. If its white then not so good. Especially if your getting a pump timing code. This wont set an engine light either. VP44 seem to be really temp sensetive about when they do this also. More so when there cold, or colder anyways in my experience.
