turbo swap tips and tricks?
turbo swap tips and tricks?
anything special to remember, pretty much a straight forward install from what i hear...
oil feed lines? lining up DP? exhaust flange gasket? any info on torquing the exhaust bolts?

im swapping my stocker to a adkins 55...will i need new bolts for the flange or should the old ones work? if not what grade do i need to buy? anyone know if the oil feed bolts right on or if it is different? (havent seen the hookup on the new turbo yet)
My swap from KSB-1 to a Lil 55 was straight forward. I recommend new gasket for the Oil line and also for the turbo to manifold hookup. Many seem to have ok results reusing manifold gasket but why take a chance. Retorque your manifold before installing new turbo. I found two bolts were on the loose side.
I waited for my Lil 55 to come in and than took it to the Hardware Store with me to get new bolts. I used fine thread, black oxide coated, carbon steel bolts. Probably overkill, but makes me happy.
Best to have a friend with you when you place the 55 on the manifold. That lil 55 is a lot heavier than a stock turbo. Extra set of hands was very nice. Also, make sure the bands are loose and the compressor housing rotates easily. Took quit a bit of "clocking" on mine.
