which turbo is better for me

Super PhatShaft 64 Turbo or a PhatShaft 64 Turbo or a Garrett PowerMax GT37R Dual Ball-Bearing Turbo (STAGE 3).

I am also going to put stage two jammer nozzles. Unless someone knows a better idea.

I pull trailers sometimes and its a daily drive. Thank you for looking and hope you can help me pick the right set up for my truck.

You might look at bigger injectors or smaller turbos. A 62mm should spool up a little quicker, and will handle 80hp injectors like nothing. That being said, I had the 64/71/0.80 (Super B special, same as the SPS64), it was a great turbo. Stayed cool, spooled quite quickly for what it was. I had an SPS62 before that, and the 64 was a better turbo all around in my eyes. The regular phatshaft is a 65mm turbine, which will spool quicker, but choke out sooner. You could also look into the 68mm turbine as well, its a compromise between the two.

Thanks for yalls in puts. But which one is better phat shaft or garrett ? I don't want to go to bigger injectors because I would have to go to a bigger pumps wouldn't i? Also do you have to have the 4 inch down pipe for the garrett?

The Garrett uses an adapter that bolts up to the stock downpipe flange, so not a true 4". Reports is this chokes up the exhaust a bit. I got my GT3782R from Tom at Turbo Resource in Az., he welds on a HX40 flange to use with a standard downpipe for S300's.

You could look into going with a box stock S300 turbo with a T4 housing. Its about $1k for the turbo, then you can get a external wastegate with spacer/adapter and be cheaper than the typical HTT/II S300.

so go with phatshaft then? Which one? I know yall talk about the 62 I think thats the best size for me because I think it would take to much to much to spin up a 64 series right?

Most of the weight is in the turbine wheel, the compressor wheel doesn't really add up that much mass. Turbine choice will affect it the most. My 64mm would have 15 psi at 1600 rpm in OD on a WOT, it spooled really well in my opinion.

I'd lean towards the 71mm turbine, either a 62 or a 64. I think they cost the same from II.

Better yet, look at the BD Super B Special. Same turbo, AFAIK comes with a down pipe, and is cheaper than either of the II or HTT turbos I briefly checked on their websites. I am really surprised how much HTT wants for their turbo!

i am no expert, but i was in this dilemma a short while ago. if i were to do it again, i would have went with a garrett from tom at turbo resource (so it fits a 4" DP)

i like my 62.65.14 - but it gets hot at WOT when the boxes get turned up a bit . . .

not sure if the garrett would cool much better, but i bet it spools quicker than what i got

I run my edge atttitude on level 5 and my smarty on 8. I run about 800 egt going down the highway at 70 and I don't have my injectors in yet. So would a 66 spool up fast or am I wasting my time with a 66 and need to go to a smaller size?

A 66 compressor side would be waste of time IMHO.. A 64 can cool a good 500-600hp truck and if you still have stock injectors, the 62 would be the best bet IMHO. Granted if the 64 is set up right on the exhaust side, that is what I am looking at.

The 66/73/0.80 I ran spooled up around 2000 rpm. With a 181/210 cam, it would go around 1700 rpm. It completely cleaned up my 150hp injectors I had with 215 p-pump. For 100 hp injectors, I'd stick with the 62/71.

how hot do you think the 62/71 would get with 100 hp injectors? Also what about pulling a trailer and when do you think it would spool up with that set up?
