Question Turbo Air Guide

TAG

Is anyone using one of these?

Does it work and is it worth the price?

I've been using one for about six months and wouldn't be without it. You don't notice all it does until you get used to it then remove it. Without the TAG the engine feels like it does at 10 below zero not warmed up, a slug. Very noticeable decrease in cruising boost, smoke and turbo whine. If you're one of the guys who takes out the silencer ring to hear the squeal forget it.
I'd buy one again.

Hey Joe,

When BigK has another party, I could pick one up here at the source and deliver it...save you the shipping. I could also test it on the way over the pass...I don't think it is anything that wears out or is degraded in any way by use. I would be interested in buying one also if it really is a noticeable improvement.

Thanks for the info. I might have to try it.

John, if I get one, you can bring it up and break it in for me. We will be having another party around March or April. We will keep you apprised.

OK Joe...I'll let you know also if I succumb to bomb pressure first and buy one...then you can test before you buy!

Interesting.

Has there been any independent tests done?

I have the TAG, wouldn't be with-out it now. Made the truck a lot more snappier. But more important to me was how much quieter my turbo is now. I have the Scotty II and now I never run the Scotty in "hush" mode. It really did make that much of a difference!

If I could see 1-4 mpg (especially when towing) increases I think it would pay for itself in short order....

The only tests that have panned out have been emissions tests where the tag has reduced emissions by over 45%
Don't expect it to lower egts increase power or mpgs though it might in some cases. The results with TAG seem to vary considerably depending on other mods to the truck. Common rails seem to benifit the most.
It will definitely lower turbo noise, make the engine feel smoother, smoke less and spool up faster. Just the lower turbo noise is enough to justify the price for me.

How TAG works

Most diesels in industrial applications have a straight shot of tubing/pipe to prevent turbulent inlet air from hitting the compressor wheel. There is a formula to figure out the length of straight pipe based on cfm and pipe diameter. On a stock Dodge application this would be 18" of straight pipe. As we know the in the stock configuration the inlet tube takes an instant bend to the filter and there is little room to do otherwise. A ton of very turbulent air hits the turbo. What the TAG does is straighten out the turbulence in one inch. Sure our engines work great in the stock configuration, the TAG just fine tunes it.

If you do not like the TAG you can return it in the first 30days for a full refund. Needless to say we don't get many back.

TAG for HX-40

We use the standard TAG for the HX-40 if it is machined for a silencer ring. We can machine the HX-40 housing to accept the silencer ring if yours is not already done.

We have also worked with some to install the TAG into the rough opening of the HX-40, but feel the standard installation is cleaner and more predictable.
