Turbo Air Guide...

Has anyone tried this? I am pretty skeptical of it making any noticeable difference. Seems like it would restrict the turbo which would take away from any benefit.

Try a Google search on "honeycomb flow straightener". This technology has been used in aerospace and in large industrial engine installations for decades. The purpose of the TAG is to straighten the turbulent flow coming out of the 180 degree bend between the air filter and the turbo inlet. Industrial engine installations require a minimum 5 diameters of straight pipe ahead of the turbocharger inlet for just this reason. If 5d isn't available, the use of a flow straightening device is required.

No, the TAG won't give 50 BHP, but it helps ensure stable turbo performance and cuts down on a lot of turbo compressor noise. It does what I bought it to do.

I went for it and was offered that I could return it if I saw no improvement. I installed it and saw no real benefit, but time got away from me so it is still in there. My fault. Seems there is a bit more turbo whine. Not knocking it, but probably better places to spend the bucks.

I have one, and it sure did make the turbo a bit quieter, which is what I wanted

I've been using a TAG for four years and wouldn't be without it. It definitely works.
You really won't see any hp or mpg gains unless you're at 15psi plus boost for miles on end such as towing. Some of my trailer towing snowbird friends have told me they get their best mpgs on the hills rather than the flats with a TAG.

I would not be without my TAG(s). Quieter and more efficient air flow! I tested mine on a 4% grade at 9000 lbs... at 60, 70 & 80 mph. Averaged 2 psi less with the TAG vs. without, to maintain speed. Also saw 25* lower EGT's. Higher the boost, the better the reduction.

This tells me the air flow, and thus the engine are more efficient! Big difference.... No! But throw in noticable decrease in turbo whine and it's worth it to me! I would expect heavy towers only to see improved mileage...as mentioned about.
I like mine so much I added a second when I went to twins! Totally eliminated all turbo noise inside cab. Kind of erie after living with after market turbo whine for 3yrs.

KeithW - Straighter air flow more that makes up for any restriction. I've seen no difference on a dyno, in the past. Actually, HP curve comes in at a faster rate (steeper angle) ...... indicating faster spoolup to me?

I noticed about the same thing as rjohnson when I put my tag in. Wasn't a big difference but when you took it out you knew it wasn't there. The main reason I wanted one was to quiet the ksb-1 down inside the cab.
