I'd recomend an HX55 Hybrid from J.R. Adkins. He is a member here you can PM him for details. I am happy with the one I am running & from you sig we are fueled similarly. I have some pics of it in my gallery.

In your case, I think I'd be looking at a B1B, although the unknown here are the Jammer injectors. We've got a few trucks setup similar to yours, although we're using Don's Mach 3s, and the KSB1 is working very well on them, however heat is a concern when the box is turned up to level 5 x 5. If Jammers make more EGT than Don's, you'll definitely want the B1B to keep them cooled off.

I would also Suggest a "little '55" from J.R. It offers more than the KwikSpool, but will have a little more lag than a B turbo just because of the inherent design.

The B1B offers about 50F more cooling than a KSB1. So that Mach 3 truck I was talking about earlier can hit 1400F, although you have to really be into hard to get there. The B1B will likely keep you down to 1350F, while still maintaining some semblance of drivability.

I understand that you're not worried as much about lag as you are temps, however a laggy charger combined with a tight DTT tranny makes for a really lousy street truck. We build a pile of daily driver trucks around here, and spool-up is easily the most important part of making a truck drivable. If you're building a weekend warrior toy, go with a large single, and be prepared to have to be aggressive on the throttle to get that truck moving off the line.

Which converter do you have ?

PM Ryan (replied earlier in thread) He has a '55, and I have one about to be bolted up.

I think the B-1's, and B-1KwikSpools, are great turbo's but to properly equip one for a WG, and 4" DP, the price gets a little silly.

PM me If you want to get in touch with the builder of the Little '55.

Just out of curiosity, Merrick, how have JR's 55's been holding up? I hadn't heard much about them anywhere. We've been sort of eyeballing 55's for the guys that need something a little larger than the B1, but are unwilling to go to twins. We're awful scared of them, given how many other vendor's 55's have let go.

B1 looks awful cheap in comparison to buying 2 or 3 55's

I have a little over 4500 miles on the baby 55 that I have from JR and it is doing fine. It has been on the dyno once and driven fairly hard on the street, barked more times than I would like for it to have been. It hasn't done any sled pulling or drag racing, its on the tow rig. I am waiting for the first chance to tow with it to see how it does there.

We had a hx55 hybred on a puller all of last year and it had 60 hooks on it at over 60 psi. The boost gage on that truck only goes to 60 PSI. I say they hold up VERY well.

Righ now IMO the biggest and fastest spooling single out there that bolts directly to the manifold is the HX55 hybreds that Laredo Performance Diesel is carring.

Biggest AND fastest spooling? I just KNEW someone had to be making an HX55-class charger that spooled like an HY35-9.

Or maybe it's fastest spooling FOR ITS SIZE? After, there is that little thing called physics.

I have to admit, the idea of a relatively-fast spooling HX55 really appeals to me. That's a LOT of compressor!

Since I am less informed (to put it gently), what is meant by "bolts directly to the manifold"? Which chargers do NOT?

Sorry for the sarcasm.
