Turbo?

i have posted about this another time. I have heard that you could use a big truck turbo. Well what i mean is that i heard that hx55 an 50's came on some of them stock. Does anyone know what they came on. And why they would or wouldn't work? By big truck i guess i mean dump truck, school buses? I am not for sure any info would be great.

Thanks good info. Know what all they came in? Or what they came in most commonly?

The bigger turbo's won't spool as quick as a smaller one.
This is why we build twins. Actually there isn't anything ' twin' in a set-up!! Compound is a better word. When the airflow required exceeds the small one, it opens a wastegate to pass more air to the big one. This way the turbo is kept in its effieciency range.

I wouldn't think too hard about this idea. Price is right but those turbos are designed more for steady spoolup at cruise. Most have big turbine housings and spool very slowly...plus, are not build for our kind of use/hp....especially the HX-40. Many of those have exploded when reved too high in a CTD application.

Others had tried this before and given up.
