It's a difference in best bang for the buck.

The Edge products will make more power for the dollar, where the SuperChips usually gives you more options like speedo recalibrations and such.

would it be unadvisable to run either one without a pyro?

any time you raise the power output it's advisable to get a set of gauges...

gunnie,

The Superchip is a great product if you're not looking for a lot of HP, it has some neat features like tire size and diagnostics that you can't get with a box. The EZ has more HP at a similiar price, but the best value item out there is the van Aaken box. Basically the same product as the EZ but has better low RPM torque and a better price tag. We sell the van Aaken 2 to 1 over the EZ just for those reasons. if you go for more HP than the Superchips and tow over 7000 LBS be sure to get some gauges too!

I have a Superchips, and no gauges (right now - will in a month or two), and I haven't had any issues. I have run it in all 3 levels. I too think it would be a smart decision to run at least an egt gauge if towing with the Superchips installed.
