TST PM3-Does it require you to pierce the wire?

I just got my TST PM3 and can't install it yet because they sent the wrong harness. I was reviewing the directions and am a little confused. Does it require the piercing of the inject. pump wire? Thx

The Comp you don't have to but in order to get the major benefits from it you have to. The TST has to have the wire tapped in order to work.

Rather than tap the wire externally, buy the Blue Chip cover and do it internally.
Then you can still put the original cover back on someday.

Yes you do, and like j-fox said, I used the BD Stealth plate (same as the Blue Chip cover). Pic in my gallery too. It doesn't eliminate evidence of a box, but at least there won't be any marks on the two pump wires. Now I've heard, and don't see why it won't work, that if you did want/need to conceal a box from your VP you could always put a small dab of black RTV where the screw pierces the stuff under the pump cover
btw...I was originally told by Rod @ Wildcat to break in you VP with the TST by driving it on level 1 for a couple weeks, then increase to level two for a couple and so on. I run mine on level 6 most of the time.
Oh, and I need more bombs

Yes it does as already mentioned.
I used the TST "Grabber". Good, firm connection and eliminates evidence of soldering. It only pierces the pump wire from the bottom...if stealth is important to you?

Nothing will avoid their computer from knowing you tapped the wire...if the dealer is thorough....which many are not!

As mentioned...ease into max settings. I went days, not weeks at each setting. Have heard both ways on how helpful it is...but could not hurt....especially the first few times. 02 VP-44 is MUCH less prone to failure from tapped wire....I know of no early failures...like the 98.5's & 99's.

I run on #9 (max) every day...unless really heavy or in the mountains.

Good Luck!

TST quit making the grabber for one reason or another. They just have those cheap vampire, clamp, crimp type connectors now. The same ones you can buy from Wal-Mart for $.50.

The "Grabber" is actually made by Fluke- it's an accessory for multimeters.
I bet you could get one from them.

I'm retracting this statement, after changing out my VP-44 and looking it over.
Yes, "Grabber" makes good, solid contact.
But you can't miss that it was on the wire. Pressure indentations all around make detection obvious.
