Transmissions?

Here is a loaded question, Who has the best after market trannys? I have been leaning towards DTT. Would any give me about the same satisfaction? Suncoast, ATS, etc. Would the ATS Triple-Loc be a winner?

Thanks,

Re:Transmissions?

Watch your step with this one Gene! ;D

I was in your shoes not too long ago, I've had my ATS now for a week (I think... spending all that money has affected my memory) and I love it. There are many satisfied customers here with products from all the different vendors, you really can't go wrong with any of them.

I will offer you this info from my experience so far... when the TripleLoc locks up on my tranny, it's hooked up! It feels like it's a manual trans when you're locked, cruising at speed.

Although if I had to do it again, I would probably look closely at Suncoast's product. They offer a triple-disc TC also, a great warranty, and they're price is nice.

But I do love my ATS! ;D

Gene: If you do a search on tranny or transmission on this board you will find the tranny wars. There were lots of discussions and lots of truely ugly arguments about this.
Resonally I do run a DTT tranny and I am happy with it.
Lots of people do report good things on other vendors too. If possible try to take a ride with each tranny. Then choose what suits you best.

Re:Transmissions?

I have the DTT Tranny and personnally think it is one tuff tranny...

I do wish, however, that it had a higher stall speed for daily driving. It is hard to control smoke when you have a converter that engages so low and your boost comes in a little higher.

Re:Transmissions?

My ATS tranny has held up to my abuse for about 45,000 miles and continues to hold strong, lock up firm, and put the power to the ground. It's had no less than 450 hp through it for its whole life, and it still shifts like new!

Re:Transmissions?

GENE,
Boy that is a loaded question!
I can not tell you which is best, nor do I think any other member can. To truely no that, I would have to had equal experience with all major makes, it isn't going to happen. I can only tell you I have been very satisfied with the ATS trany I have. Would I be just as satisfied with a DTT, I can not say, maybe, maybe not. You have to read up on the different makes, and maybe call the people that would build the trany. On here, there are meany people that have had good experiences with there transmissions, and they are inclined to think that theirs is the best. Maybe, but you have to read through the bull crapp and decide for yourself. The good thing is most people claim to have had positive experiences, so who ever you choise, chances are you will too. Good luck
