Transfer Pump/ Gauges

Hi guys.... I know this subject has probably been beat to death, but I was wondering a few things:

1. Should I look at puttin' a different transfer pump in my truck all together? If so, how much and from whom should I buy this jewel?

2. If not, what pressure should I be looking at for my guage? If, and even if I don't, change the pump I plan on puttin' a gauge in the truck, but was looking for suggestions as to where and how big a gauge I might need. I understand that pumps require different pressure ranges, but I wasn't sure if Dodge just had one and we knew how much it required.....If not, how can I find that pressure range out?

Okay, I think thats about it. Any information would be greatly appreciated as I'm worried its gonna go- and replacing the injector pump just doesn't sound like fun in the middle of winter ya know- and as always preventive maintenance is always cheaper

Thank you!

Fuel Pump

I just put a Holly "Electric Blue" pump in mine. It works good. I bought the "KIT" from AUTO PARTS WAREHOUSE, I got taken I feel. I paid $225 for the kit, the 3/8 fuel line was too short, it did not come with a fuse. These are things I think should be witht the "KIT." Just be careful when you order stuff, ask a lot of questions. Oh, by the way, the Holly fuel pump is at Advanced Auto, like Auto Zone, for $112. Do the math, I don't think two fuel lines and a couple of fittings are worth the extra $112. And then to have to buy the fuse to boot. Thank you Doctor for allowing me to vent.

Thanks for your opinion. I had looked at the second pump, but was debating if that was good or not over all. I would think if you got one good pump you could rely on , why have 2 ?

As for pressures...

Don't let it fall below 8 PSI (@ wOT) if you can. Normal idle for a stock pump is about 14-15 PSI...

Get the Holley Blue and the wiring/relay kit from Summitt Racing and then get the SmartFuel system from Scotty. This is the best solution for the price of what you would pay for another lift pump. The Holley is rebuildable if it ever gives up the ghost on you. Do it! You won't regret it. Look in my gallery for pictures of it.

With this dirty filter I was losing about 2 PSI at WOT from my normal 8 PSI at WOT. But it was the fact I couldn't climb a grade at set cruise speed of 65 MPH!

But it help to diagnose problems...

My setup...

Checked out your photo gallery. What year is this truck? I can't figure out how you have that after the filter. That looks like it is under the filter????

Yes.. It is mounted under the filter... That is the line going to the VP44. The other line on the top is the one from the LP pump...

It's a 2002 Dodge...
