hey guys i just sent my tranny up to idaho were my brother and buddy are going to rebuild it, they do tranny rebuilds on the side and its way cheaper for them to build it, anyways my question is do i need a billet output shaft in my tranny if im gonna run twins on my truck?? a very reputible tranny shop in idaho were all my parts are coming from told my brother that if i was to run twins, that the stock output shaft on my 1990 727 torqueflight wouldn't handle 400-500hp, so my question is, is that true and how much could i get a billet output shaft for?? they quoted me 700 dollars, sorry for the long write, but this is very imortant and i wanted more opinions on this subject, thanks a bunch

yes it will need it! It may be on the close side but i would put shafts in it if it was me. Twins spool hard and fast , Thats hard on a tranny! There about right on there pricing!

Price wise he's dead on, but I didn't know anybody made billet output shafts for 727 transmissions in the diesel app. There's only 2 shafts in a 727, input and output. Inputs are the ones most guys worry about and yours is a solid one, not a hollow one like the 47RH/RE.

Your biggest challenge is going to be getting power through the torque converter. Better get a good one because yours is a non-lockup.

Personally I would put a built 47RH behind it and let her rip.

 

thanks for the help. so what your saying is that the stock input shaft on my 727 tranny should handle twins??, if this is true then i would definatly like to save 700 dollars and not have to do it. incase anyone was wondering i plan on installing

-lasercut dv
-435 injectors
-4k rpm kit and 60lb springs
-#4 fuel plate
-custom twins turbos (hx35 on top and s400 on bottom)

so should my stock input shaft handle all that?? please, if anyone else could jump in with there opinions and knowledge
