newbie here but love my dodge.

Im curious what kind of mods i should start with for my ctd? I use this truck to tow my 10klb toy hauler trailer so i need some more grunt for my 00 6 speed ctd.

Eat Beef hit it on the head. Do it in that order and you should be fine.

The gauges you'll need the most are Fuel pressure (0-15 or 0-30 psi), Boost, and Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT).

The Scotty 2 intake is the best cold air intake bar none out there (this is my OPINION ).

For injectors, either a set of 275's or Mach 1.5 injectors(these are mild injectors and will give you a nice increase in power and mileage and still remain very safe while towing).

The EZ is a good choice, but most wish they would have gone for the comp to begin with. The EZ is only an extra 65hp. The Comp can be setup to deliver only an extra 65hp, or can be adjustable from 0 to 120 extra hp. You will have to upgrade your fuel system and your clutch to run the max power of the comp safely, but it will be well worth it. Your probably going to have to upgrade your clutch anyways if you do injectors and an EZ so you might as well do the comp instead so you can take advantage of the new clutch.

The Dodgezilla turbo from Wildcat Diesel would be a great turbo for you. Spools just as quick as stock, but flows a little better so the EGT's will stay in control.

Either straight pipe the stock exhaust or put a 4" exhaust from any of the manufacturers on this site. The stock exhaust straight piped is good up to ~350 hp.

 

Is their a good place to buy them? who makes good guages?

I would like to install a pod that will require the least bit of hacking up my electrical system. any links of sites to go for purchasing a good quality set of guages and pods?

my exp with my chebys has always been hacking up the factory harness to get them into the system and i love my dodge to much do to that,

also, do those injectors really make that big of an increase in performance? every one talks about hp, but what about torque? my biggest beaf is just pulling long grades, questa grade out of san luis obispo is the one i see the most. (for those of you who are local)

 

See my towing mods below. As equipped, the maximum preturbo EGT I've seen since installing the DD2 injectors (my last modification) is 1225 degF @ 34 PSIG boost, 75 degF lower than my stock EGT of 1300 degF @ 21 PSIG boost. With this setup, we can easily pull 6% grades at 70 MPH in 6th gear towing a 13,500 lb 5th wheel that puts us on the road at 10,380 lbs GVW (10,500 GVWR) and 21,180 lbs GCW (21,500 GCWR). You asked about torque - my Cummins HO was originally rated 245 BHP and 505 lb-ft torque at the flywheel; current rear wheel output is shown below.

My only complaint is that the DD2's are somewhat smokey off-boost. If I had it to do over today, I'd look for an equivalent BHP EDM-style injector. Oh, and instead of the EZ, I'd look at something like the Diesel Dynamics TTPM, or maybe even the UFM, since their timing increase is less aggressive than the Edge EZ.

I got my gauges through Geno's Garage. I have had no problems with anything I have ordered from them. FYI, get the fuse adaptors for power and lights to the gauges. Makes it easier to wire up. I used the ash tray light for a dimmable light source before I knew I could get it from the fuse panel
