Tools needed for install

am going to install my pyro, turbo pressure, and fuel pressure gauges soon. I understand you need a 7/16 inch drill bit to drill the hole for the pyro probe and then tap the hole for a 1/4 NPT(sp) fitting. My question is can you rent these tools from somewhere? or do you have to buy them for this job. Is there anyone in the SE wisconsin area that has these tools?

Thanks

Jake

A 7/16'' drill bit is common and shouldn't set you back more than a few bucks at any hardware store.
I have a feeling you're thinking it's bigger than it really is.
You can buy a 1/4'' tap at the same time for under $10

I'd say just buy the tools... they're cheap and you just never know when one of your buddies will get wise and get a CTD...

If you can, go with a 1/8" NPT whole instead of a 1/4". THe larger size weakens the casting, and I have seen cases where the tapped hole caused a crack on the stock manifold-- it's rare but it happens.

BTW-- this isn't an issue with the ATS manifold.

I tapped mine 1/4"NPT and haven't had a problem. That notwithstanding, I'd take Justin's suggestion and start with 1/8"NPT. That way, should you happen to mess up, you can always drill and retap at 1/4"NPT and use a reducer bushing to mount the 1/8"NPT probe.
