too much blake smoke

Well it's been a long time since I have posted on here, but I do drop in to have a look once in a while. I am wanting to cut back on the black smoke and was wondering if I put my oem fuel plate back in with all the performane mods still in place what effect would that have? I have tried adjusting the performance plate but has little effect on the smoke issue.

smoke right off idle would be handled by the AFC, controlled with the housing position and the diaphragm springs and set screw.
smoke once the turbo spools is controlled with the plate position front to back, and the plate profile.

your build is similar to mine maybe a little less air to fuel. Im guessing its something you can fix with AFC and plate position tweaks.
make sure you dont have boost leaks too.
I run the low timing and marine injector combo to offset the loss of low end power with the cam I got in it. runs really clean and crisp off the bottom like this.

Thanks for the reply Kawi600 and sorry for the delay in responding. The black smoke is not abnormal for my upgrades but I would like to reduce it and was wondering if installing my oem fuel plate would help and what effect that would have in conjunction with my upgrades. Don't really need all that power any more but don't want to go back to stock either.

Where are you seeing the excessive smoke, at WOT with everything spooled up, or as it goes to WOT?

What Kawi is trying to tell you is the plate only controls a small part of the fuel curve, and to get you an honest answer means we have to know at what part of the process she is smoking excessively.

As an update I need to clarify that the smoke was not excessive for my mods, just excessive for the day and age we live in now. These mods were done about 14 years ago and I just don't need to smoke out intersections like I used to!!! So today I moved the AFC housing back as well as the fuel plate and tightened up the star wheel. All that made a big difference and still left me with lots of power. It runs just fine with a lot less smoke out the tail pipe. Leon

Yeah, I hear you loud and clear. Getting old(er), being slightly more responsible, taking time to think about the environment and other people, MAN, it just sucks!

Cheers!
