Cool Tonight the Bullet goes in!

Alright guys I finally found an affordable silver bullet 66 and bought it upon the recommendations of many happy users (i.e. GB5.9 and others). Will I be pleasantly surprised if I add this to my current setup? Also have an SO pump on the way. Do you guys think I will notice a difference just by changing to the SB? How about with the So pump and the SB? Just wondering what to expect.

YOu might not see the full benefit of the SB until your SO pump arrives. Your current injector size and electronics package is getting pretty much every drop of fuel that HO pump can put out.

I'd like to see how this goes, so I'm anxious to hear your report. Basically, you're going from a 64/14/71mm to a 66/14/74mm, right?

Most of the guys I know of running the SB are 3rd gen guys, so the spoolup for them isn't much of a factor (a 3rd gen seems to spool almost anything).

GB5.9 is the only guy I know with a 2nd gen SB, and his results speak for themselves. I'm tempted to go big on a charger due to my 6-speed giving me more options.

Correct HTT 64/14/71 to the II SB 66/14/74!
I will definitely let you know how it turns out. The 64 is awesome, just does not clear all my smoke.
I'd agree, I'm expecting a bigger change once the SO comes in, I'm just hoping for a noticeable change right off the bat. We shall see!

I installed my SB66 3 weeks ago and its sick, it blows away my SPS62 and has very little lag, im still shocked at how clean my truck is with Mach 6s and this turbo, post back cant wait to hear how you like it, if I knew it was this good I woulda never bought my other 2 II turbos.

Alex you really need to bring that thing down to Fall Brawl and put it on the dyno.

Anyone know what the 14cm I.I. housing translates into in terms of A/R?? I'd like to compare this to other turbos.

You might not clear up all your smoke even with the SB.

That's the nature of running M6s with a little HO pump-- they are a little bigger than the pump can support with full discharge pressure.

Your SO pump, of course will eliminate that problem. So what I'm saying is, don't lose hope if your SB66 doesn't clear up your smoke. If it doesn't, your SO pump should.

It was my original PS62 and the Machs 6s with a Drag Comp, the lil 62 never cleared up the smoke, but spool up was wicked. I never dynoed the SPS62 as it was only on for a few weeks then traded for the Silver Bullet.

Unhappy

Alright fellas I got some very bad, some bad, little good, and some indifferent news to report. First the very bad. Truck has been running great, no problems, drove it home from school today w/no problems, then when I go to pull it in the garage to start the install it starts puking anti-freeze out the overflow?!?! OUT of no where. So I shut it off in the garage and take alook. My dad's mechanic friend was coming over so I figured I'd let him look and decided to start my install.

Goods news - got the "old" (about 3 months) quick diesel 64 out fairly quickly and easily. Got the silver bullet in fairly easily except the oil return.

Bad news- WHOA what a nightmare. The oil return wasnt even close to fitting. After an hour or so of persuasion I got it to fit. This is already at 12:30 because I didnt start this whole afair until after 9:00. So once that was all together i finished putting the intake back on etc etc. Decided to pull the thermostat to see if it was stuck closed before I fired the truck back up. Fired the truck up, good for about a minute and a half, and then the anti-freeze started puking again. So its now 1:45 a.m. and I got no results for you. My deepest apologies!

So the truck is ready to be tested accept for the anti-freeze problem. This is where you guys come in! What do you think is going on? Water pump? Let me know, I am open to all suggestions!

One last tidbit before I end this already too long post. The minute I had the truck running I noticed that the SB has a downright nasty whistle, its just mean. And lastly this is alittle interesting, I got this used (less than 100 miles on it) and the guy got it with the housing unpolished, I didnt know you could do this but it is pretty neat, Ive taken the liberty of coining it the "Sleeper Bullet" because other than the enormous size it dosnt look that "special" or out of the ordinary.

Well I have alittle time to tinker with the antifreeze problem tommorrow before I go back to school so if you have any ideas feel free to share, otherwise I will hopefully be able to test it and let you know next weekend.

Sorry for the long post fellas, especially when it contained no results for you!!!

HOHN - yes the SB is a .80AR which translates to about 14cm or vice versa.

Ernie - Id love to get to one of these dyno events it just seems that I never have time! I bought this truck bone stock and have more money than I care to remember in it and I have NEVER had it on a dyno. Sick right?

Everyone else- sorry no results yet, with a miracle mbe tomorrow, if not hopefully next weekend, thanks for all the interest, I will be sure to report back!

Wouldn't it be hard for it to puke coolant out the overflow if the coolant level inside the radiator was lower. It must just be to full.
Ahh yea, we more concerned about the results of this new huffer than with a petty water problem. So go lay the hammer down and let us know what happened.

Nothing a new head gasket wouldn't cure.
