Tires

Getting ready to ditch the FS Steeltex's I currently have on. After doing some searching, it sounded like the Cooper Discoverer ST was something I'd be interested in. I checked prices on 'em today. The quote for OWL LT265/75R/16 E was $199 each, including mounting and balancing. Is this in the ballpark for this tire? Those that have run 'em, how many miles did you get out of them? And, any other tire recommendations for a CTD 4X4 Ram that plows snow? Thanks.

Re:Tires

I don't know about the Cooper STs but I am running Cooper ATs. The same size that you are looking at. The tires cost me $675 mounted and balanced if I remember right. I do not have a bunch of miles on them yet, Just one trip to Niagra Falls, Ont. pulling my fiver (2275 miles) and running around here.I was told that they had the same compound in the rubber and the mileage "should" be about the same. Mine show virtually no wear yet.

Re:Tires

I almost bought a set of Cooper HTs but went for Yokohama Geolander HTs after reading reviews and feedback from tirerack.com. I found a set of 4 for $465 out the door at Discount Tire dealer in Minnesota.

LT245x75x16 and have had them for 12k miles and wearing very well. Very quiet and help straighten out some of the front end wander.

Re:Tires

Your quote sounds very high, I think I would shop around. I have no experience with the Copper tire. I have had very good luck with the BFG radial TA, I run the mud, but have friens that have been just as pleased with the AT.

Re:Tires

I just got a quote on a set of 315/75/R16 Discoverer ST's mounted, balanced, everything for around $720. I know these are typically quite a bit more than 265's. Check with these other online places for a reference on different brands/prices. I have the BFG A/T's now and love 'em.

Re:Tires

The Cooper Discoverer ST 265/75/16 cost me $160 each.
That is mounted, equal inside, stems.
And it's a 10 ply tire.
That's $640 for all four.
And they look sweet 8)
So far they have performed better than the A/T when the truck is loaded heavy. Less wander, better off road traction.

Re:Tires

I'm on my second set of Discover AT 265/7516E. They ran 650 mount/balance, road hazard, lifetime rotation balance, etc. I had over 50K on my first set, 95 V10 4x4 reg cab LB and loved em. Bought my 2000 CTD and it had steeltex's. I immediately realized the steeltex were junk and put on new coopers. In fact cooper tire are just about the only tire I will put on a vehicle anymore.

Re:Tires

I had a set of Cooper Discoverer A/T's on my GMC and after 30k I would guess there was at least another 30k left on them. Very little wear and I should say those 30k were in some pretty rough conditions (hunting and all round off-road)
Next summer I'll be putting a set on my Ram. Good tires.
